Nurses may be considered as great leaders. Why? Because nurses educate patients and family, also advocate for the best interest for the patient. In case management, being a leader with superlative time management is important. I currently work as a case manager in a local hospice and know this too well. I for one find that this magnitude of work is not for every nurse. In this paper, I will identify one leadership theory that describes me best, compare and contrast the difference between a leader and manger, and discuss my self-assessment if my own personal time management skills.

Time management is important to a leader for the reason that leaders must focus on the urgent matters and allotting time for each task to be completed. Being organized is crucial to time management. I completed a self-assessment for my time management a found that I may needed some work in certain areas. The assessment indicate key components to time management. Some suggestions that can be functional in the daily work environment is taking time a writing down the task for the day, prioritizing the most important task, likewise if certain task can be completed by another party delegating that task. Nurses can influence our occupation by paying courtesy to legislation that is announced and by contacting our elected representatives to voice our opinions, whether they are positive or negative. What nurses do in the political arena may potentially impacts patients, those who need immediate attention and those who do not but may need it at another time.
Knowing difference between leadership and management is insightful. Because then you know the keys skills of leadership. I do think that some skills can be taught, but some skills have to be within the person. Leader is willing to take risk and enjoys seeing the greater good. Developing impeccable time management skills will make a person more efficient and effective worker, especially in nursing. Being apart of a nursing professional organization may enhance leadership skills through workshop and also help involve nurses in politics.
