If you are a student, computer technician, or a sanitation services worker it does not change the fact that you can make a difference. Roy Elliot was a movie director in World War Z and he had nothing to contribute to the Zombie war (Brooks 159). The zombie war was a war with weapons and he was not a soldier, but he found a war that he could fight which was the Asymptomatic Demise Syndrome (Brooks 159). This syndrome was killing hundreds of people in their sleep. The people would lose hold of hope so badly that they would die in their sleep. There was nobody in the book that was addressing this issue so Roy Elliot used his talents and his job experience to attack this problem. Martin Luther King Jr attacked a crucial problem that was in our nation a couple of decades ago. He was a Baptist minister who earned a degree in sociology (Biography). His beliefs made him a leader during the Civil Rights Movement and he believed that America did not need to discriminate any race because everyone was created equal (Biography). He was a leader during the Civil Rights Movement and fought this dilemma with nonviolence and helped change our nation forever. Two different worlds, but one goal and that was to save people. They settle for what gets handed to them and they do not stand for what they feel and long for in their heart. When you stand for your beliefs you are standing for somebody else. Roy wanted to make videos of people overcoming the zombies to restore hope to the nation, but the government turned him down (Brooks 160). Instead of quitting the fictional movie director takes all of his equipment around the nation and spends countless hours putting movies together (Brooks 161). He gets footage from a college that defeats the last waves of Zombies from that area and quickly creates a movie to impact the public. Martin Luther King Jr. created such an impact pursuing his beliefs that he was put in jail and beaten for using the freedom of speech (Biography). That did not stop him from setting up countless meetings in major cities trying to get African Americans the right to vote when they already had it (Biography). He put the “movement” into the Civil Rights Movement by leading several peaceful protest marches. His actions have made him one of the most influential people in the history of America. When you are ridiculed for doing the right thing that is just a confirmation to keep doing it. The world can be changed through baby steps, but people need to stand up and fight for what they believe
