2. The Once-ler saw the environment as a business opportunity and nothing more. While the Once-ler did express appreciation for the Tuffula trees, he was more concerned with creating bigger business from them.
3. The Once-lers business failed because he exausted the supply of natural resources. Every Tuffula tree had been cut down for commercial use. The air and water supplies of the area became heavily polluted with smog. As a result, the fish and wildlife of the area were forced to relocate to more habitable environments. The Once-ler’s mistake was that he didn’t listen to the Lorax. He was more concerned with expanding his business. If he would have listened to the Lorax, he may realized that the Tuffula tress were more valuable than the money he was producing from them. The Once-ler may have considered the outstanding negative affecst that his business would have on the wildlife and water and air supplies of the area. He could have protected the natural resources by replanting the Tuffula trees that were being removed.
5. A real life example of man-made pollution affecting the ecosystem would be greenhouse gas emissions. The industrial activities that we depend on have polluted the air with dangerously high carbon dioxide levels, caused drastic climate change and sea level increase. Global warming is a huge issue caused by human activity and a lack of concern for the environment.
