The wrongful party may or may not deserve forgiveness, but it is given nonetheless. Forgiveness is used as a way to realize peace of mind and eliminating negative feelings. However, forgiveness does not entail forgetting, condoning or giving excuses for the wrongs done. Forgiveness helps in rebuilding relationships and reconciliation if possible.
