The Sunnis and Shia are tribes of people who started out one whole tribe dedicated to Islam in the first place. They split up over the years and became 2 different tribes: The Sunnis and Shias. The Sunnis are the great majority of the world's population because more than 1.5 billion of Muslims are Sunnis. Estimate suggest up to 90% of the population was Sunnis.
