Cope with Slavery

US History Slaves and slavery, these two words give me a huge pain in my heart. Today, I believe that we all live in an equal society where skin color, different sex, and other are all equal. However, long ago at about 1720s it was different. Approximately 93% of the African American was used as slaves for the white men. Also the free black men at the time were kidnapped and sold as slaves. No one cared about the black’s situation because they had such an ambiguous position in society and no one accepted them. The slaves (blacks) had to work early in the morning to the late night. Some slaves worked inside the house as butlers and some worked outside as field worker picking cotton, cropping fruits and vegetable. The slaves were devastated and wished everyday that they only want to live a normal life as other white men. The slaves had some ways that they coped with their situation. They did music, had religion, made families, did some small revenge and in the worst case they try to escape. …show more content…
They only break they get is their lunch break which is eating corn and bacon for an hour. They do not have a lot of time to socialize and have time to even keep a smile. That is why the slaves did music. More specifically they have done inspirational music. These music, as the slaves sang it together it creates a bond and helps them enjoy life. By singing, the slaves dance and enjoy the moments. The slaves also have religions. As the slaves are in harsh conditions, the slaves need help. They need someone to believe in, someone to help them. The conclusion that the slaves created was religion. By becoming Christian (Christianity), the slaves could pray for help when they need it.
