Another difference is that many businesses have noticed a noticed a larger influx of interest in a product when an influencer is used to promote that product rather than a promoted pin. Also, due to the Pinfluencers’ large following and credibility, businesses experience a greater success rate compared to promoted pins created themselves. First, Pinterest could charge advertisers that use their site, which they have already implemented in a way with the promoted pins where users pay to have their products or services pinned in places where consumers who are looking for those products would see. Pinterest could also place branded pins, or sponsored pins, in the stream that correlates with the product. For example, if the product was wedding dresses the pin would show up on category pages relating to weddings. Another method Pinterest could use to generate revenues is working with a company like Outbrain.com that helps sites by paying for directing their site viewers to other sites. Additionally, Pinterest could create a customer to customer, or C2C, marketplace where instead of just pinning products, users could post information regarding the products. This information could include photos, prices, a description, and could include a marketplace where other users would have the ability to purchase those products. The benefit of the C2C process is that Pinterest would be able to take a percentage of the transactions while obligating the seller to ship the product on their own
