There are numerous cultural differences between Canadians and Pakistanis. I migrated form Pakistan to Canada and the biggest difference that I have noticed myself was the amount independence that Canadians have compared to the Pakistanis. To begin with, the idea of independence in the true form exists in Canadian culture as independence in Pakistan comes with several regulations and restrictions and not many people will consider that a true independence. At the extreme, for example, if ones choose to become a model or an actor, especially a girl chooses these options this might become a reason of why honour killing happens as we have discussed this topic in the class as well. A similar case of honor killing happened in Pakistan few years back when a brother killed his own sister Qandeel Baloch as she has started working in the media industry; her brother felt that she is dishonouring the family, so he thought killing her is the best options to regain the honour. I, personally, don’t understand the idea of honour killing and not letting the freedom to choose a carrier for the act of honour killing is bazar and idiotic; several people argue that the honour is for the persons own decent and respect but in my opinion killing is killing in no matter which form it might be practised in. Moreover, Pakistan is a Muslim country and religion plays crucial role in every Pakistanis culture, but killing not only for the honour but for any other reasons are considered sin in Islam. People have themselves found a solution of the act that if a girl abandons their family rules or values they will practise honour killing as a solution to save their own
