Which plays a bigger role? Nature, the effects of genetics or Nurture, the effects of environment? Psychologists have been wanting to know the answer for ages, long debates on what could or could not be the bigger role of the science in Psychology. What is Psychology? Psychology is the act of studying the mind and behavior. There is 2 different categories of behavior, you have the overt behavior which is observing directly, examples include talking, running or even blinking. Then you have covert, which goes deeper beyond the surface and goes to the thoughts and feelings as well as imagination of one’s mind. The process in your brain whether you are in danger or not are mixed and cause mental illnesses, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) can come from many things. Examples include coming home from fighting in a war, child abuse, or any type of abuse. Our environmental state can really affect our mental state, neglect can also cause depression. Everyone has fears but everyone reacts differently you may be scared to present in front of classes while to other it may come easy, our brains develop and think differently than others.
The Nurture vs Nature debate has no real answer, they both cause psychological issues, whether Nurture or Nature plays a bigger part your answer may vary.
