Personal Narrative: My Special Education Class

There is a required category of classes for me to graduate from UCI called Arts and Humanities. It means I have to choose at least two classes that I do not have lots of interests among religions studies, histories of art and music. That is why I enrolled in Music 8, a class mainly talks about the histories of the Beatles. The introduction of this class was pretty much fun or at least funner than east asian languages and literatures. I like the Beatles, and I thought I could have a easy time with this class because I know a lot about them. During the introduction class, I was trying to find some Chinese fellows like me to study together, and I would like to see many of them here in this class because they can always find some easy A classes. …show more content…
Hmm, the first assignment was a summary about their early life in Hamburg, it should be easy. I planned to write it before the night of the due date, and I did not check the requirements and reading materials attached. The contents of this class was easy, just play some videos and their songs, and introduced some great prizes they won. Of course the timelines of their careers. I should recommend this class to my buddies because this class do actually had no tricks. Two weeks of peaceful classes, and after I got home before the due date of the first assignment at seven, I clicked the link to the reading materials and the summary requirements. Things got different. Damn, a summary at least one thousand words. How long could the reading materials be? Likely twenty pages, and the size of the words seemed like extremely small which makes the reading material looks much longer! This is not the end because I will have six more summaries need to be done this …show more content…
Do we all have a time when teacher introduces a new method and by solving the questions only plugging numbers into the equation, and we feel we can easily handles this?
I think everyone have this emotion during their learning careers, and many friends of mine also have this kind of this emotion. This feeling reminds me of a class, earth science 142. It talks about atmospheric chemistry, and which somehow connects to my major, chemistry. It is a small class, and I think the professor and I were the only two asians in this class. It was so pity that I did not see my friends, maybe they all in the business and economics major. The professor was funny and he knew a lot about football which can easily raise some football fans’ emotions in our class by mentioning the matches. I also interested in him because we look the same, we both asian, and I think all the asian look the same except girls and boys. Contrary to general chemistry, this class introduce key mechanisms of atmospheric chemistry, and it involves in many equations and calculations. Things was fine before the first assignment posted, it is interesting that I found the first assignment can always testify how much I like in this

Everyone has experienced some sort of atrocious pain in their lives. At one point in my life I did not believe I will ever walk again. A troubling life changing event occurred when I was just fourteen years old. Every evil thought was occurring in my head all at once. “You won’t walk anymore”, “You won’t heal”, “Time can’t change this”, all thoughts that were going through my mind while being in a wheelchair.…

Source After reading far past the halfway point of this book, I am still reading back and forth from the perspectives of Marie-Laure LeBlanc and Werner Pfennig. I am currently at the seventh segment of the novel; each presenting a different time period of the story (1940, 1944, 1938, etc). Previously, both main characters were sheltered by their family and avoided the negative impacts brought by World War II.…

According to the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University, the major goal of the department is to help the future chemists learn the most modern research techniques and to think creatively about solutions to major scientific problems (2015). Stoichiometry is one of the most crucial and fundamental techniques in chemistry because of its real-life applications in chemistry as well as research. Stoichiometry allows chemists to make predictions about the outcomes of chemical reactions. Producing useful predictions is one of the main goals of chemistry since it provides the chemists with the ability to explain phenomena that happen in the natural world. Stoichiometry is the heart of chemistry since without stoichiometry, it would be problematic…

I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

This year has been a crazy one. I came from a public school, not knowing anyone, so I terrified and didn't know what to expect. I struggled with trusting others, time management and battling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, I had a lot of practice throughout the year. For instance when we had to record a News Show for Mr.Mora's class, I was faced with all of these problems.…

I went from an exceptional student to one who talks back. Since freshman year Mrs. R had been my favorite teacher, even though I did not have her until I was a junior. She was kind and always there if you needed to take a breather in her class, or simply do whatever you needed to on the computer, if it was your lunch. I've heard students complain about how they did not like her and how annoying she was. However, I couldn't understand why they felt that way about Mrs. R. I never saw her the way they did.…

Safe Spot Again, I'm sitting in the same Chinese Restaurant for the third time this week, supposedly the first ranking Chinese restaurant in my city. The worn out Chinese red decorations hang unbalanced on the entrance door, as always. In freshmen year, a Chinese student invited me to a Chinese meeting spot, where we spoke in Mandarin. Our interests and complaints were all similar.…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

“David, why are you hanging out with the CBCs?” A tough looking Chinese student asked me, furiously. CBC stands for Canadian-born Chinese, a term describing an Asian community that somewhat resists their Chinese identity. On the other hand, the angry Chinese student belonged to the community named “Fobs”- fresh off boat. Fortunately yet, unfortunately, I was the being that was in between of the two groups.…

When I signed up to take music appreciation, I knew it would be the perfect class for me. I myself take up being a musician as a hobby, I’ve played the guitar for years and have a basic understanding of music in the world. I knew that music had deep history within its roots, but I always had a curiosity to learn a slice of that history which is exactly what this class did. Besides playing an instrument and make music, I also became very fond of listening to music as a hobby. I began to have a love for music itself and take the time to listen to complete album over and over again to reveal their underlying themes like a poem.…

Being Canadian, I am surrounded by Canadian artists more often. In our culture, that kind of music is what majority of our society listens too and enjoys. In the duration of the course, Jazz and the type of music I listen to are very different in terms of tempo, beat and the flow. In the music I listen to today, they have lyrics and we understand the meaning through the words that are being said then just the music playing in the background. In Jazz music, there is rarely any lyrics and the feeling is mainly understood by the instruments conducting the music.…
