Utilitarianism is that we should conduct ourselves and act in promoting the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people, even if that means that we ourselves are not directly happy from the task. There are two ways of to endorse utilitarianism, one is to act utilitarian meaning that peoples actions are right and they promote happiness for the general public, whereas the wrong actions would promote negative feelings for the general public. The second way is to rule Utilitarianism, meaning an action is right as long as it adheres to the rule that leads to the greater good. While Kant and Mill both have similar stances on how we should behave and how to create the happiness of the greater good no matter the outcome for your own personal pleasures, they also have differences. Mill and Mr. Kant, I understand their utilitarianism ideals, and doing your duty to make the greater good happy even if that means that you yourself will not be happy, and making sure that you are able to answer all questions that allow you to use yourself and others as a means to create a maxim. However I think we as humanity need to be able to nurture and respect each other. Find out what others needs are and help them achieve their goals, reach our own person goals for the betterment and the happiness of ourselves. By making myself happy I know I will in turn be able to make my daughter happy, and my husband happy. I will then pass on that same happiness that I have from earning my own goals and completing something important to me, to my clients and my friends. I think we should always do what is right for the greater good however not losing ourselves in the shuffle. You will never be able to make everyone happy however if you can make yourself an those around you happy then you have accomplished more than you set out to do by just achieving your own personal
