When distinguishing the difference between these types of education an example of viewing formal as travelling on a bus and informal as riding a bike (Growth Engineering, 2014) helps to develop a strong understanding of the two.

I remember this specific piece of work due to the fact that I am still deeply passionate about The Beatles to this very day. This is one of the only pieces of work I remember from primary school and I believe this is due to my strong interest in music. I have found, when looking back at this piece of work that it was one of my best written in that year and to me that illustrates that even though everybody is taught the same in the classroom that if that particular topic is of high interest to you, you will achieve higher marks because you will put additional time and effort into it. You begin to develop life skills as early as nursery; nursery consists of less structure and more informal play. For example, in the home corner playing shops, dress up or making play doh food in the play kitchen, you are beginning to understand the world and even though they are moderately basic, you are beginning to gain an understanding of the foundations of life. Furthermore, by surrounding yourself in classrooms with other children in primary and secondary school (like myself when writing my biography, sat on a table with several other children) your social skills begin to develop, which are key to achieving greater independence and confidence later in life.
