What is the difference between ethics and morals? How do they influence our decision making? Ethics refers to what is right or wrong according to an external source.(Nikhilesh Jasuja, 2012) In other words, you follow the conventions of right or wrong. In Taiwan, right side of the road is the side where traffic drives on. It is considered culturally wrong if you decide to drive on the left side. Overall, ethical laws and rules that we follow are created depends on the surroundings and environment. Composers spend times working hardly on writing songs, meaning the decision of downloading their music without paying is genuinely disrespectful. After all, people still do it for self- interest. Does it mean that he/she will be fined and charged, or may be put into a jail as a criminal if he/she gets caught? This is a controversial issue that has been discussing for many years. In my opinion, I believe people will download music ethically if there is an actual way for everyone to download music ethically. Notwithstanding that we should never upset all our morals for the sake of the ethics of a culture, we should absolutely try to put his/her shoes in others’ shoes in order to create empathy. Empathy doesn’t always create peace; however, it makes us not to lose our humanity in the midst of conflicts. Not only does it help us to treat people with dignity, but it also allow us to treat people with respect.
