Conformity means compliance with standards, rules, or laws; on the contrary, nonconformity means failure or refusal to conform to a prevailing rule or practice. But should we as humans put each other in a box? why must we be defined as a conformist or nonconformist? My own claim states people who claim to be non conformist are trying to stand out to get attention and people who are conformist are trying to fit in to get attention and my opinion is everyone should simply be themselves. Yes, we might get praised for being a slave to the new trends and we might get all the attention that we seek, but at the end of the day this is also what creates people who have no substance, no personal opinion on a topic because they have been busy following others that they lost who they were and now finding themselves will be very difficult when they could have simply been themselves the whole time. …show more content…
I could have avoided this by simply being myself and not caring about irrelevent people’s opinions on a topic. For example, in 5th grade all of my friends started wearing skinny so as soon as I saw that the next time that me and my mom went to the store I asked her to buy me skinny jeans. This is just one example of me conforming, but there is plenty more that was 5th grade and in 7th grade that is when the snapback hats became the socially acceptable and fitted hats were out of style now in 10th grade everyone is wearing what I consider to be dad hats or bent brim hats and know that I have my own opinion on topics you will not see me wearing the trends nowadays if I like something it is because I like it not because other people like
