Abstract: The study investigated the workability, and compressive strength properties of the concrete produced by replac-ing 5%, 10% and 15% by weight of ordinary Portland cement with Sawdust Ash (SDA). Slump test was carried out on the fresh concrete and compressive strength test on hardened concrete. The concrete cubes were tested at the ages of 3, 7, 14 & 28 days. The results showed that Sawdust Ash is good with use in cement. The slump decreased as the Sawdust Ash content increased indicating that concrete becomes less workable as the Sawdust Ash content increased. The compressive strength decreased with increasing Sawdust Ash as replacement. The compressive strength of concrete with Sawdust Ash was lower at early stages but improves significantly …show more content…

Conclusion
From the results of the tests performed, the following conclusions can be drawn:
• Concrete becomes less workable as the Sawdust percentage increases meaning that more water is required to make the mixes more workable. This means that SDA Concrete has higher water demand.
• The compressive strength generally increases with curing period and decreases with increased amount of Sawdust . 10% Sawdust substitution is adequate to enjoy maximum benefits.
• SDA Concrete is more economical by nature and can be used in
