There are more similarities rather than differences between community development and social action, however we cannot say there is no difference between community development and social action. Two notions means two perspectives.

Agents or actors are essential parts of both development and action. Both have some motives and goals to bring positive change in human life, or change the systems which are not beneficial for society. According to Max Weber social action is not isolated in same manner community development is a vibrant achievements. Both process evolve around advancement, empowerment, capacity building, betterment, enhancement and nurturing. Both are virtues I call virtues because of common goals of people and it is not self-oriented. Mostly the cause or goal are noble. It is directly or indirectly for improvement of life, facilities or system. But there are some differences between community development and social action according to my observations like community development is more democratic and every members has a same role and opportunities, moreover it starts from grassroots and common cause is likely same but in social action somehow members have to follow a leader and target group can be specific group of people and goal could be against specific system where every member of community may not be interested or effected. Community development may be more time consuming where social action may need more fleet actions. Planning is another factor which differs the two social activities, community development needs more planning and networking while social action is more practical. Social action
