Kari quoted this in chapter 5 when she was debating on whether or not to apologize to David. She considered David her friend, despite their differences, because he was Thomas’s and Sarah’s enemy. Despite her wanting to be seen as an adult, Kari uses the fact that she is still a child to help convince Henderson to let her see her parents.Kari manipulating Henderson to let her see her parents by saying that she is a little girl and needs her parents actually makes her a lot more grown up than some may think, because she knew why and what she was going to do when she saw her parents.
Another ironic situation is that Kari can create complex codes that are head for even the head of engineering to break. However, she said about herself, “For one who prides herself in her innovation, I sure don't do much with my clothes” (55). Kari has a creative mind but however, when it comes to clothes she sticks with a simple design. She remarked how she had enough money to buy the current fad or she could create more extravagant clothes yet she keeps it simple.
The next case of irony is in the fact that Kari created her drones to have stingers for self defense. She ends up having to use them to fight off the mob and officers that show up at David’s house and she does it with no hesitation or with no empathy. The irony behind this is that when she gets captured by both sides, she get shocked.
