Difference Between African American Culture

Decent Essays
A cultural difference that I have experienced is my ethnicity and non-religious life. Because I am African American I am thought of as a bad person. I’ve had many people surprised by who I really am. They are surprised at the fact that I don’t follow stereotypes of “black” culture. I like to draw and learn and I’ve taken many AP and IB classes. Many people are surprised that I even made it in honors classes. I’ve been put down before and called “white” because I don’t live up to the stereotypes of African Americans not going high up in life. I also surprised people when I tell them I can draw anime and the not the stereotypical graffiti. They also become baffled when I tell them I like listening to rock and metal instead of stereotypical
