Dietetic Internship Analysis

Decent Essays
Yes, I am applying to three distance dietetic internships due this February 15th, that require me to get preceptors for all of my rotations. I had asked Judith, If I could do my rotation with the University of Northern Colorado at WIC, since that the first application I started to fill out.

Since I am applying though the DICAS website, I can only get matched to one internship even if I submit multiple applications. If I don't get accepted to the University of Northern Colorado, but get accepted to Priority Nutrition Care, I would prefer to use that approved time slot between 10/23-12/15 (8 weeks) to do a rotation with WIC in Pasadena. This way I can increase my chances to get accepted to an internship and still do a rotation with WIC.

One example of indirect evidence of diet would be skeletal indicators of dietary insufficiency. The lack of vitamin D commonly results in rickets, the lack of vitamin C results in scurvy, and the lack of iron results in iron deficiency anemia. One thing these pathologies all share in common is that they all affect the skeletal system in one way or another. Rickets can be seen in the skeletal record by observing the cranium and bones of the leg, because the lack of vitamin D causes malabsorption of calcium which thus causes inadequate mineralization of bone in subadults. For adults, skeletal evidence is in the flattening of the cranial vault.…

My Diet Analysis In the reports of "Actual Intakes Vs Recommended Intakes" and "Calorie Assessment", many the amount of nutrients I consumed did not reach 80 to 110 percent of the recommended level of nutrients intake. However, I set a goal that was losing one pound per week, and my calories intake reached that the recommended amount of calories intake. For example, my current weight is 138 pound; my intake of calories was 1,505.32, but the recommended intake of calories was 1,518.90 if I want to lose weight. Due to this, I realized that I should reduce to amount of foods that contain high fat, protein, and carbohydrates, but I should still need to consume the food like vegetables, fruit, and others. However, I did join the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) in September 2017 to help me attain this academic goal. The purpose of this organization is to provide information to pharmacy students about career paths and d opportunities within the field of clinical pharmacy. With that said, time management as a new pharmacy student has been an ongoing learning process this year and knew some things had to be prioritized more than others; therefore, I do believe this goal is where I fell short. Hence, I hope to be able to attend more SCCP meetings next year as well as work with the SCCP president to obtain a shadowing experience at a local…

In addition to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary factors such as stress, lack of exercise, smoking and other environmental factors are linked to causing chronic disease(Slavin, 2012).…
