Diet, Health, And Proper Nutrition For A Long Life Essay

Over the course of this class, I have learned many new things about diet, health, and proper nutrition for a long life. Without learning these very important things, I may have just continued on my old diet, which was not healthy in the least. I have now seen a real proper diet, complete with all different food groups and everything in between. I am grateful for this class, because otherwise, I would probably still have that unhealthy diet. Nutrition taught me a lot, and I am ready now to follow all that it taught me, and I think I have the knowledge now to teach the people around me about it too.

One of the first things I learned in this class was the MyPlate daily-recommended diet. After reviewing MyPlate and its contents for the very first time, I thought it was a solid and healthy diet. However, now with a little more knowledge about nutrition and the food groups, I can see that it isn’t the best diet for everyone. I think this because it doesn’t exactly tell you how much of each food group you should have everyday, and by athlete standards, it wouldn’t be enough to sustain their activity level. For an everyday, normal diet, I think it would be enough, but could definitely improve. For myself, however, I have tried following it a bit more closely because I have needed to change my diet for a long time. Although the MyPlate guide isn’t the best there is, I think it is fine for me, since I don’t do extreme exercise, and I know where some changes can be made.
