Diet Analysis: How To Analyze My Diet

Improved Essays
Diet Analysis Throughout the week of September twenty ninth through October fifth I created a food log to help me further analyze my diet. I noticed that my diet is lacking dietary fiber, potassium, iron, magnesium, vitamin A, D, and choline. I was able to know this by logging my food every time I ate on a website called SuperTracker where it can tell you the food sources you’re missing along with your activity levels. Dietary Fibers primary role in the body is to strengthen the walls and to regulate digestion. I don’t have enough of it in my diet but ways I could include it would be by eating more oat bran muffins or brown rice. Although there is way more foods that include dietary fiber these are the ones that I could incorporate in my meals the most. Too much dietary fiber could result in cramping, diarrhea, and malabsorption. …show more content…
Being that I lack potassium I could eat tuna, salmon, and yogurt. If you have too much potassium in your body you can develop a disease called hyperkalemia, which is where you have high potassium in your blood.
Iron is an essential element for blood production. About 70 percent of your body's iron is found in the red blood cells of your blood called hemoglobin and in muscle cells called myoglobin. Eating red meat, and beans is a good way for me to get more iron in my diet. Having too much iron in the diet can cause hemochromatosis which happens when too much iron builds up in the body.
Magnesium is a cofactor in more than 300 enzyme systems that regulate different biochemical reactions in the body, including protein synthesis, muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control, and blood pressure regulation. If I ate more dark leafy greens and seeds that would help boost my magnesium levels. There is no proven problem that happens when you eat too much
