For a professional basketball a healthy and nutritional diet are very important factors in ensuring that the player is able to train, play and allow their body recover. An average professional basketball player trains six days a week, one – three times a day and in order to maintain this high intensity, extensive training they must ensure that their bodies are getting the nutrition they need. The main source of this energy comes from a high carbohydrate intake, as it helps to fuel the body for the amount of training each athlete does.

High-density carbohydrate foods are what a basketball player’s diet is significantly made up of; cereal, fruit, wholegrain bread and pasta are examples of regular foods in these diets. This carbohydrate diet
