The main goal as a diesel mechanic is to make it where someones engine is running strong and that way they are not constantly having problems. “The diesel mechanics main task is preventive to avoid breakdowns but they also make engine repairs when necessary” (Encyclopedia 688). They are also trained to do regular check-ups and maintain maintenance on the diesel engine so it does not break down while someone is using it.
