A diesel mechanic requires being determined, willing to learn, and patience. The reason I choose to research a diesel mechanic is because I enjoy learning about how to fix stuff and especially diesel stuff. So what diesel mechanics are all about is to inspect, maintain, and repair diesel engines. The types of things they do is change oil, engine rebuilds, and servicing diesel engines. For a diesel mechanic there is no real college degree required. But you do need to have a high school diploma and go through 6-12 month training program. The different jobs available with this training is automotive diesel repair, large engine diesel engine repair, small diesel engine repair, train engineer, and marine diesel mechanics. They work from 6hr a day
