Life & Death Through elaborate carving, casting, painting, and other technical processes, artists can ingeniously turn dead stone, metal, or plaster into vivid human-looking sculptures. George Segal’s Blue Women In a Black Chair, which was made in 1981, is a typical painted sculpture that reflects the core of human emotions. The Untitled large man accomplished by Tom Claassen in 1999, likewise, is another excellent reflective sculpture. Although these two are both outstanding pieces mirroring experiences in real life, they differ in materials, size, color, and body gesture in order to present different stage of human being, conveying different meanings.…

In Emmuska Orczy’s novel “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, Citizen Chauvelin is the villain and antagonist. Chauvelin is a French agent hell-bent on sending the Scarlet Pimpernel, the protagonist of the story, to the guillotine for aiding French aristocrats in escaping from their certain death during the French Revolution. The Puritans were people who moved to the New World in order to establish a community that united them through God and religion. Their envisioned goal was not quite reached, but many of their works are studied for their ideas and how they relate to government. Puritan writing style was heavily influenced by religion, mainly about God’s presence and his impact of works on people’s lives. While Sewall and Edward's had a similar way of writing, due to the heavy influence of God and his works, Sewall had a much more gentle and personal approach to writing while Edwards wrote in a harsher way that addressed a larger audience. The reasons behind their writings showed the differences between the two; Samuel Sewall wrote from experiences while Edwards…

The art piece that I choose to do my critical intervention was on Daniel Arsham piece called “Hidden Figure”. I choose “Hidden Figure” (Arsham) because I loved the simplicity of the piece but as well of the strength that the piece holds. The reason on why I thought this art piece was simple was because the art piece its self was just a human body figure hidden behind a white cloth and the only thing visible was the boots the figure was wearing and the shape of the human figure. . As well as being simple, “Hidden Figure” (Arsham) also was obvious. The reason why I thought that “Hidden Figure” (Arsham) was obvious is because you can clearly see that there was something hidden behind the white cloth.…

Anecdotes, stories, novels, and other grandeur forms of art often bring out many different emotions and feelings such as happiness, sympathy, pain, and horror. Books such as “ the Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Stetson and “the Dead” by James Joyce lead to create a maudlin environment within the book by discussing mawkish topics such as pain and restraint. In the yellow wallpaper, one of the main themes is constraint, an element that leads to the antagonist to lose sanity, “ "I 've got out at last," said I, "in spite of you and Jane. And I 've pulled off most of the paper, so you can 't put me back!"’ (Stetson, 656).…
