Diego Riveras Research Paper

Diego Rivera was forty-one years old when Frida and him first got to know each other. He was born Diego Maria de la Concepcion Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera Acosta y Rodriguez on December 8, 1886 in Guanajuato, Mexico. His father was a school teacher and his mother own a candy store. Diego was considered a prodigy from a young age. When he was ten years old, he demanded that he be sent to an art school. He continued his elementary education during the day and went to a prestigious art school, San Carlos Academy, at night. He felt constricted in his art studies, so he set off for Spain in 1097 and stayed there a year. After Spain, he moved to Paris and lived there till 1921 when he eventually returned to Mexico. He left behind a lot of people, a Russian common-law wife, and illegitimate child with another woman and various friends like Picasso and Gertrude Stein. So, he came down and looked at her work. Frida asked him if her work was good enough and if she should continue to pursue painting. She needed to know if she was good enough so that she could sell her work and make money to help support her family. Diego became enamored with Frida and was impressed with her work. Diego thought of her as an authentic artist. Diego told her that she should continue to paint. Frida invited him to her home to critique the rest of her works. Diego was so excited over being invited to her home but he had to hide his excitement so as not to frighten Frida. All he could say was yes. A few days after seeing Frida at her home, Diego kissed her for the first time. And after he was done with the fresco at the Ministry of Education Building, he began to court Frida. Guillermo saw that Diego was interested in his daughter and gave him a warning. “She is a devil,” he said, Diego said “I know it", “Well, I’ve warned you.” (Herrera 89) Guillermo
