Did The Space Race: True Or Fake?

Did the US fake the moon landing? Or did they truly step foot on the moon and beat the Soviet Union in the Space Race? On many occasions we are reminded that the US were the first people to step foot on the moon. Although this is such a great accomplishment, considering the US defeated the Soviet Union in the Space Race, there are still many conspiracies that say the moon landing was fake. The Space Race was a competition between the Soviet Union and the United States for the greatest achievements in space exploration. But on July 16, 1969, the US sent mission Apollo 11 into space, and they were the first to land and step foot on the moon. The US couldn't have faked this, but others argue otherwise. In my opinion, the US moon landing was completely real and would be hard to fake, and there are many deductions to prove so. …show more content…
Most people may say that the shadows are supposed to be parallel. However, according to ¨www.theguardian.com," ¨A low sun and uneven surface can distort the angles of shadows in images. ¨ Since the moon landing took place in the morning, while the sunrise was occurring, the sun was not at an even direction towards the moon. This along with the hills on the moon caused the shadows to be different lengths and not parallel. This suggests the moon landing was real. The reason why there were also no stars shown in the photos is because they were too bright for the camera to capture them. There was a ¨fast exposure time¨ and ¨small aperture¨ (www.theguardian.com). Therefore, there was no way to capture the background of the moon with the stars because they were too bright. To recreate this, they would have had to use millions of light lasers, which at that time were expensive and only came in the color red. Overall, the moon landing was real because uneven surfaces influenced the shadows and the brightness of the stars also affected

It has been at least 46 years since mankind first stepped onto the moon. This event is considered one of the most important accomplishments that humanity has ever done. However, at this point some people still believe that such an event did not happen, and it was all just massive propaganda used by the United States in order to bankrupt the Soviet Union at the time. This idea about the Apollo mission being fake seems illogical. My perspective about this is that the U.S actually did land on the moon.…

Within the documentary The Truth Behind The Moon Landings, theorists claim the whole landing to have been staged with props because of the lack of technology, the multiple light sources, and lack of stars in all photo and video evidence. Many people are skeptical about the Apollo 11 landing on the moon because, in the 1960s, NASA did not have advanced enough equipment and technology. Ralph René, a self-taught engineer and author claims, “there’s absolutely no way they went to the moon with what they had, in fact, there’s no way they can go today, there’s no way they can go tomorrow. You don’t send man where you haven't sent the monkey.”…

What if that was filmed in a studio right here on earth? NASA is a very well known American space company that might have lied to you. In 1969 NASA was in a race to the moon against Russia. It is said when the US didn’t know if they would win that they should just fake it. Some evidence shows that it was filmed in a studio and not on the moon, the American flag was waving but if they were on the moon there would be no gravity therefore the flag couldn’t wave.…

The year is 1961 and the U.S. is six years deep in a space race with the Soviet Union to show off to each other who has the best air and space capabilities. President Kennedy gives a speech saying that we will go to the moon “not because it is easy, but because it is hard” (Engle). Less than a decade later, on July 20th, 1969 at 20:17:40 UTC, the Apollo 13 mission put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon (“Theories”). Ever since that day the people have doubted the fact that we ever put people on the moon. An opinion poll found six percent of American believed the U.S. did not go to the moon, with it jumping to 20% after Fox released the 2001 documentary: Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?…

After years of work, the Apollo 11 Moon landing is significant because it proved to the Russians that communism wasn’t a superior form of government. In addition, it made a statement to fellow Americans that even space isn’t beyond our reach.…

I had always been fascinated by modern mysteries and conspiracy theories, but before this class, I had no clue what to accept and how to analyze the information that I was presented to me. I chose the topic of the Moon Landing, because it enabled me to take a second look at the conspiracy theory through a new lens of experience. To understand where this idea of a hoax originates, we need to understand what was going on before the Apollo 11 moon landing. Starting in the 1950s, America was in a cold war with Soviet Russia, which was less of a physical battle and more of a challenge of who had a better structured government. It was a challenge of superiority that eventually led to the space race in 1955.…

It says a lot if so many people feel the first moon landing was fake. I have learned a lot about the moon landing just by the one source I found, sure it is only that one person 's thought but considering many others believe it also it really persuades you into looking into the Apollo mission, seeing the history behind it and how many the US government just wanted to set up this hoax to assert their victory in the space race over Russia since it 's such a popular thing. Though, Michael Rundle allowed me to see things that could steer my mind into believing that it was real. He goes into the depth and sciences that one would want to listen to if they were to look this conspiracy up. Michael’s statements have a lot of understanding to them, especially when he talks about the flag waving and how there aren 't any stars in the photograph, but Josh’s statements on the flag waving and lack of stars also has that understanding.…
