Did I Use My Life To Live For Truth By Mahatma Gandhi

By the divine privilege and grace of the Almighty God, this book is a life-ideology designed to spur those unknown generals who will read it and create a nurturing and compelling stir in their hearts to rise above mundane existence and mediocre living to a life of achieving great things; for God Almighty, for humanity both in our generation and the ones yet unborn and achieve great things for themselves in particular.
Like a song writer would sing, “When all is said and done, there’s just one thing that matters, did I use my life to live for truth, did I live my life for You?” On March 25, 2006, I was speaking to a group of youths like myself and I said, “Life is the only game everyone in the world plays! “Died as he would always live, private man, without wealth, without property, without officially titled on others. Mahatma Gandhi, not the commander of armies, nor ruler of vast lands. He could not boast of any scientific achievements or artistic gifts. Yet men, governments, royalties and dignities from all over the world have joined hands today to pay homage to this little brown man in the lower class who lead his country to freedom. In the words of General George C. Marshal, the American Secretary of States, Mahatma Gandhi became purposeful. He was the man who made humility and simple truth more powerful than empires and Albert Einstein added; ‘Generation to come will scarcely believe that such a man as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth’.” Anytime, I read this speech, I take a deep breath, trying to absorb the reality of the content of a man’s testimony like you and I, and this keeps me wondering and asking myself this thought provoking question. When all is said and done, what would I be remembered for?

Only what I did would I be remembered for and the opportunity to serve again in that capacity is gone forever. Never again will I ever have the opportunity to serve in that capacity, no matter what ideas I have got. Think of yourself too. Every of your past opportunities would remain past forever, only what you did or you contributed to humanity or godliness would forever be remembered. This equally applies to anyone sojourning this earth. No wonder an anonymous writer said, “Opportunity comes but once.” No matter who you were or presently are, a time will come when you will not be having at your disposal such opportunity any more. What would you want to be remembered for then?
As a privileged-son, what would your father and mother remember you for and vice versa?
As a privileged-class or school representative, what would the school remember you for?
As a privileged-Head of department, what would the members of your department remember you for and vice versa?
As a privileged-pastor, what would your congregation remember you for and vice versa?
As a privileged-Village Head, what would your villagers remember you for and vice versa?
As a privileged-Governor, what would your state-men and women remember you for and vice

Henry D. Thoreau’s non-violent protest of not paying his poll tax may not have made a huge impact on society during 1846 when he took his stand for what he believed in, however, his stand would end up becoming a huge inspiration during the 60s and 70s. July of 1846 Henry D. Thoreau was arrested for not paying his poll tax for the last 4 years. (Brooks) Thoreau believed this poll tax helped support the Mexican-American war and the expansion of slavery into the southwest (Brooks); both of which he strongly disagreed with. He wanted to make a public statement of his refusal to support an unjust war and slavery itself and when asked by a friend who visited him in jail as to why he didn’t pay his tax his response was, “The question is not what am I doing in here, but what are you doing out there?” (The Power of…

In Document 1, Gandhi writes a letter to an English governor and Gandhi asserts that, “ Even the salt [ the peasant] must use to live is so taxed as to make the burden fall heaviest on him.” This statement implies the racism and inequality the British put on Gandhi’s people. Thus, in order to retaliate against the British Gandhi would protest constantly, and peacefully, to stop and spread awareness about the harmful acts of the British. Likewise, in Document 7, Gandhi found out that his supporters were, “sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor…” This illustrates the influence that Gandhi put through his work and therefore spreading his ways and succeeding.…

When something is considered priceless it is said that its value is so high that no amount of money could ever purchase that item. Materialistic objects that are priceless are usually either rare, ancient, or made from highly expensive material and crafted into some sort of art form giving the item its priceless tag. When we think about something so common and overlooked as the state of being alive and life itself, life is not seen as something priceless, but rather as something with potential and an adjustable value depending on the quality and state of a human life. Life will always be too precious to ever have a price tag labeled on it, everything can be replaced in life except for life itself.…
