This lead to a direct downfall of the Aztec civilisation. This was the end of the first stage of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire. Hernan Cortes was building up both alliances and supplies as the epidemic (Small pox) had also affected the Mexicans including Tenochtitlan. This disease was known to be brought by a slave from an anonymous force, who which was abandoned as a slave during the Spanish fight. Aztec warfare was a very organised system which’s affairs steeped in ceremonial tradition. We all know quite a bit about some of the weapons that were you used during the Aztec era. One of the best known weapons is a Maquahuitl . Most of the time this weapon is compared to the sword , and it was a very powerful close contact weapon , they were also incredibly strong, Spanish claimed this could chop a horses head in one hit. Another common weapon used during this time was a spear. These wear known to be awfully sharp . They didn’t have a small point like most spears have , but blade a few centimetres wide made of smaller stone blades. These spears were known to pierce Spanish armour.
