He would say terribly rude things such as “Lady shall I lie in your lap”(Act 3,Scene 2).He truly mourned over her tragic death in the end .He had his rude moments when addressing her ,but Hamlet really did love Ophelia.
He wanted to truly express his love but he didn’t Claudius take him as a coward.He wanted to throw everyone off by making them think he was going crazy over Ophelia.He wanted everyone to think that was the source of his insanity.He wanted Claudius to see that it was just lovesickness so he wouldn’t be suspicious and catch on.His true intentions of killing Claudius were what he didn’t want anyone to catch on to but eventually Claudius figured it wasn’t lovesickness,that’s why he sent him to England.
