There are many scenes in the play that creates imagery, For example, Oona running into the jungle, and the tsunami coming and Oona running away from it. , In the stage directions, it says "Mahout is motionless, dumbstruck. As are the distant swimmers. The sea is sucked away - the water disappears. Thousands of fish flounder on the sand."(18) as a reader, I actually sawed the fish floundering and the water being suck back. "Swimmers rush forward to grab the fish."(18) I also saw the swimmers rushing towards the fish picking them up."Rumbling"(18) I could imagine the shaking under my feet when the earthquake started. "suddenly Oona bolts into the trees with Will still on her back"(18) I felt like I was riding Oona and my face getting whacked by the jungle trees as she runs farther and farther into the jungle. Finally "And now the sea returns - as a giant wave. The swimmers scream, and yell ad lib, some in Indonesian all building to a fever pitch:"(18) I could hear the screams of the people calling out for help, and their loved ones it pained me because this was a real tsunami that happened, and actual people died so when I read the play I thought of them, and it killed me on the inside. For example, in the stage directions, it says "Mahout is anxious"(17) the writer did don't have to use the word anxious instead the author could have used the word worried. Worried is used in the context " I am so worried I hope my mom does not find out I spilled milk on the floor", anxious is used when you are even more worried and the outcome would be worse and use the word anxious intensifies the situation. Another example is when the stage directions say "Mahout is motionless, dumbstruck."(18) In this context, the author is saying that Mahout is unable to move and he is in shock and aww. Motionless is a pretty common word, but dumbstruck is not used very often, you would not go around saying that man looks dumbstruck you would produce it in a text to indicate the person or thing is in complete shock and stunned at what someone or something said or
