The society we live in today has some form of order and has had form for a long time. whether it is a dictatorship or democratic society, there has always been forms of hierarchy. In a democratic society, the leader is elected in by the citizens of the area and the elected party takes charge of their area. A country run by dictatorship have no right to vote and the country or area is ruled by the superior party. This gives the dictator control and power over the part of the region he rules. In many ways supremacy is naturally craved by living entities. The film ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ conveys this theme through the film techniques camera angles, characterisation and setting.

Characterization is used to show the personality of the character. One of the main characters, Caesar, is revealed for the first time as an infant. Caesar’s mother was murdered, therefor having no mother to take care of him. The only clear option for Will and his co-workers was to euthanize Caesar. This was until Will decided to take Caesar home and take care of him. From that day Caesar grew up with humans. This affected his development and made him more human-like. The apes and humans are biologically close, with the way Caesar was brought up and the vaccine given, his development boosted and he was more human than any other ape. Because of this, he had a better understanding of what the apes were being put through by the then superior force. In the movie there was also a gorrilla. In the wild the gorilla would have been the superior, however with Caesars experiences and knowledge as he was brought up, he took control of the apes and led the fight back against the humans. caesars upbringing characterized him as a strong, caring and intelligent ape, this made him the leader of the apes.
