Dick Misirlou Analysis

Decent Essays
Dick Dale is a surf rock musician that is said to have been the creator of the surf rock style. Misirlou is a song of Dick Dale that is fast, loud and quick. Misirlou has a surf rock style which relates to me because I go to the beach all the time in the summer. Personally I pick things up quickly just like the quick tempo of this song. This song also relates to me because I play drums and I am a fan of fast beach themed music like this piece of work.

I chose this song because of the speed of the song and the beach theme of it. Misirlou is one of my favorite songs to listen to but what stands out every time is the fast shredding guitar. The guitar riff is very detailed and it really stands out in the song itself. Overall I would

Gender inequality in the workplace is prevalent now and has been for hundreds of years even with the presence of laws and policies that forbid it. Kristen Schilt the author of “Just One of the Guys?” targets how natural difference schemas shape today’s workplace and reinforce gender inequality. She does so by using both open and stealth transmens’ experiences in the workplace to provide examples of how natural difference schemas are prevalent and hard to undo. Schilt also highlights how race, height, sex, and masculinity can benefit or hurt one's place in work world. Before understanding how natural difference schemas shape the workplace, fully understanding what a natural difference schema is necessary.…

“A newspaper is the lowest thing there is” is a notable quote from former mayor of Chicago Richard J. Daley, and an interesting one considering Chicago’s most famous journalist immortalized him in his unofficial biography of Daley entitled “Boss”. Mike Royko, the author of the book, tells the story of Richard J. Daley and his life at the top of Chicago’s political throne as its mayor. Part biography, part history textbook, part critique all play into the writing of this book. And the end result? The inner workings of Richard J. Daley and his Democratic political machine of Chicago are one of the most fascinating and shocking phenomenons in American political history.…

"O Fortuna" was a Medieval Latin Goliardic poem written early in the 13th century and is part of the collection known as the Carmina Burana. In 1935-36, "O Fortuna" was set to music by German composer Carl Orff as a part of "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi", the opening and closing movement of his cantata Carmina Burana. It starst off with a slow pace having pounding drums and choir that drops quickly into a quiet whisper then builds slowly into a steady crescendo of drums and short string and horn notes peaking on one long powerful note and ending quickly. I think the composer of this song wrote it to make the listeners feel a certain way and understand that what was about to happen is very important and is to not be taken lightly.…

For the scenes re-enactment project, my group and I did the research and re-enactment on a Marx Brothers film in 1933, called Duck Soup. The story revolves around the country of Freedonia, which is on the verge of bankruptcy when its benefactor Mrs. Teasdale finally insists that Rufus T. Firefly become the president. Seeing such event as an opportunity to seek control, Trentino, the ambassador of the bordering country of Sylvania, sends in spies, Pinky and Chicolini, in hope of a revolution. During the course of the story, Firefly and Trentino clashes in a lot of ways, which finally leads to an all-out war between Freedonia and Sylvania. Despite, the film involves the topics of wars and politics, it still remains the nature of Marx Brothers’…

Rettnew (2015) demonstrates within his lecture various ways temperamentally happy children elicit responses from his/her environment that supports their ultimate success (2015, 3:20). From this, we can infer these experiences act as positive reinforcements and not only shape the interactions of their environment, but parental interactions, as well. An example of this was demonstrated within the text during the discussion of the deVries study where we uncovered that temperamental children were far more successful at eliciting responses that ultimately translated into their survival ( ) . Over the years, I’ve maintained the viewpoint that children groom their parents in similar ways—that it is in fact our infant that molds, teaches and refines…

The things that I particularly liked about this song was that there was a consistent beat throughout the entire song, one of which I could tap my feet to while nodding my head. I also liked the enthusiasm of the vocals. In contrast, I did not like how some of the lyrics were shouted rather than sung, but then again it’s an essential part of this genre that this song belongs to. I, however, am not a big rock and roll type of guy.…

For the past three years, Record of the year has been given to songs that had features with it (probably doesn't make a difference.) The mixture of beat and music in it is really good, Mark Ronson did a good job on engineering the song. I mean, this song was my jam for 2015. The song is good and had a really good year in sales (even though I said that doesn't matter, but it does). The song is so iconic to everyone and even lasted 14 weeks in no.1 in Billboard top 100.…

Dustin Mosko directed the production of Fuddy Meers, written by David Lindsay-Abaire and performed by the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, which I attended on October 6, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Fuckboi Analysis

    • 8 Pages

In contemporary heterosexual relationships, a question that constantly plagues women is why are fuckbois the worst? Well, despite the fact that fuckboi is entirely a contemporary word, the fundamental concept of a fuckboi is congruous to Japanese Premodern literature because regardless of time and culture, there are always men constructing their sense of their masculinity around their belief in their unearned sense of entitlement and superiority that somehow sanctions their authority over the women they pursue and string along. Thus, Dictionary.com's working definition of fuckboi is a male that does not respect women because they are self-absorbed, will not commit to any serious relationship, and are always getting into trouble, yet still…
