Ponyboy: Ponyboy is very much alike in the novel and the book. I personally think that Chris Howell did an excellent job as his role as Pony, even though he had some flaws when trying to recreate the Pony from the book. In the movie, Pony had no empathy or tone in his voice when talking, and he was a lot meaner compared to the book. In the book, Pony was and acted smarter in dangerous situations, like at the church. In my opinion, I think that even with some flaws, Chris did a good job et portraying the character.…

Simpson’s (1989) analysis of fictional dialogue focuses on the phatic communication of characters’ conversations in Flann O’Brien’s novel The Third Policeman in which he tries to reason three broad theoretical issues. First, he draws on a sociolinguistic framework designed for the analysis of naturally occurring conversation and applies it to the rather unusual dialogue which takes place between the characters in O’Brien’s novel with a hope that such an analysis will highlight the ways in which the conventions of ‘normal talk can be manipulated by a writer for special effect, and thereby explain the comic impact of this fictional dialogue. The second tentative aim of his research seems to go contradictory to the first when it is intended that the analysis of literary dialogue will have some implications for the study of naturally occurring conversation. Oddly enough, by examining strikingly unusual interactions in a literary text, we may alert ourselves to the discourse patterns in everyday…

This means that public speaking shares some similarities as well as differences with the other three forms of communication. First, we will deal with similarities then the differences. In dyadic communication or conversation, and public speaking, the speaker organizes his ideas logically and tailors his message to his audience in order to convey it in a comprehensible way. He also can tell a story and adjust his words and the tone of his voice to establish more effect on the listeners whose verbal, facial, and physical reactions are taken into account while delivering (Ibid, 2012:6-7). In small group and public speaking, the speaker interacts and discusses issues related to the topic and the occasion.…
