Setting is important to the “Diary of Anne Frank,” because setting sets the mood of the story, like the setting in this story takes place in 1945. In fact, Anne Frank and her family were forced into hiding during this time at Mr. Franks old business place. “Our hiding place was to be upstairs in the building where Father used to have his business”(Goodrich and Hackett 704).
