Anne Frank’s diary is the most famous account of the Holocaust. Her family was forced into hiding when the Holocaust began. The Gestapo finally arrested Anne and her family on August 4, 1944. Anne Frank’s diary is important because it is a first-hand account of what Jews went through in Germany during World War 2. Her diary describes growing up during the Holocaust. It is a true account of a life in hiding. The diary of Anne Frank is important because it is a window into history and it shows where discrimination can lead to. During the Holocaust, Anne Frank’s family went into hiding to escape persecution by Nazis like many other Jews. She lists many of the restriction place on the Dutch Jewish population in her diary. The Frank family moved into the Secret Annex with another family. Some employees helped them hide from the Nazis. If the employees got caught, they could face the death penalty for harboring Jews. Anne Frank’s family was caught after the last entry in her diary. They were sent to concentration camps and only Otto Frank, the father of Anne Frank, survived. Scout, for example, has a strong moral nature that guides her. She was taught throughout her life from her father strong morals. This causes her to feel sympathy and confusion at Tom Robinson’s verdict. Another example of moral nature in To Kill a Mockingbird is Scout’s brother, Jem. Jem first believes that there is only good or evil. He can not comprehend the idea of good and evil existing in one being.
