Compassion means to concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. Mr. Frank also showed compassion by letting the Van Daans live with him and his family in the secret annex when he could've just left them out to be captured. This shows that Mr. Frank is caring and willing to let the Van Daans live with him and his family.
Sacrifice was also used in the story. Sacrifice means when you offer food, objects or the lives of animals or even yourself to a higher purpose. Mr. Frank also shows this when he left his house and all his belongings behind to live in the secret annex and hide. He also shows sacrifice when he lets the Van Daans live with his family and himself he could have left them out. This means Mr. Frank is willing to sacrifice his belongings and his family space and his life for others in need.
I'm stating that living in the annex took many perks, such as having courage which Mr. Frank shows by taking his family into hiding which could have left to death if .they were caught. Another perk used was compassion which Mr. Frank showed by letting the Van Daans live with his family when he could have left them out to be captured. The last perk used was sacrifice Mr. Frank showed sacrifice by sacrificing his life and his family life by letting the van daans live with him and his family.
