Dianne's Dilemmas

Improved Essays
While reading Dianne’s page and looking at the question I see that there is a lot to learn when it comes to storytelling. You don’t just plot it right away, there’s a step to take; main one is to brainstorm your ideas before going to the next step. Here is the outline of what she gave, “Identifying the conflict, learning about the characters, considering the setting, and deciding on the form of a story”. (Rees, 2010). Reading further to where she talks about the effectiveness of the training, which inquires, “rising action, climax, resolution”. (Rees, 2010). I can understand where she is getting at because when creating a video you're not just making a video for fun, but it helps learners be more engaged into what they are learning, since

Jeannette once said reading is a form of comfort for her. I couldn’t agree more, we both adore stories similar to our own experiences in life, mostly to see how the protagonists in those novels survive their stories. But unlike her I’ve had and have electricity to read, I’ve never had to stitch up my drunken father’s arm, an I’ve never had to fend for myself while my parents didn’t. I think that she should do what her older sister Lori does: read books like the Wizards of Oz to escape into a fantasy to put her at ease for a little bit. She needs a break from her terrifying life and from her ignorant “guardians”.…

Communicating to attain forgiveness can be a difficult task. In the case of Bonnie in the CBS television show “Mom”, she is not ready to forgive her estranged mother who wants to return into her life. I will be analyzing the scene when Bonnie first meets her mother, Shirley in the cafe with her daughter Christy and the initial confusion and anger she experiences. Through the use of code switching, and hurtful language, Bonnie illustrates her lack of empathy towards her mother 's return, she also displays her anger through the nonverbal cues of vocalization and emblems demonstrating that apologies don’t heal childhood trauma.…

In my opinion, the governor should not grant her clemency. Doris was a drug dealer who was arrested for selling $200 worth of heroin. She was considered to have connections to “higher ups” in the drug world and was a teenage leader in a 1070’s drug ring. They found $600 in her apartment, paraphernalia for cutting heroin and pictures of her with other drug dealers. Moreover, she deserved a 10-20 year prison sentence for this crime, however, she plotted an escape and she used a work pass to walk away from prison.…

The women in the crowd are characterized by the narrator; their character develops when they are compared to the American women of the nineteenth century. Hawthorne begins his direct characterization of the women when he states that the females in the crowd have a “coarser fibre” in them “than in their fair descendants” (9-10). He implies that those of the crowd who are of an earlier century, are much more harsh and firm than the women in later generations. The narrator uses diction like “coarser fibre” to show that the crowd of women are built up “morally, as well as materially” (8) solid and strict rather than soft like the contemporaries of Hawthorne.…

“This Beautiful Life” showcased many aspects of social issues. One aspect that stood out to me is the struggles of teens in their surroundings. Teenagers are growing to figure out who they are and their surrounding, such as the people around them, has a huge influence on their discovery. They need proper guidance and discipline to follow their rightful path. Sometimes it may not be good, but with the help of Helen Schulman’s realistic characters – Jake, Daisy, and Coco, teenagers of the 21st century are able to connect to them, their situations, and properly learn how they can change to make a better.…

Everyone is predominately busy with their life and neglects the time to watch the news. People lack the knowledge of what is truly going on in the big world politically, socially, and economically. As the young generation absorbs this negligence of politic and local news, they will not be edified with the correct information. It is in our hands to change this factor because the younger generation will be the answer to the rights of this country. As to edify them more amusing, and entertaining, but informal, I would make a broadcast news video on worldwide issue.…

Originally named Dorothea Lynde Dix, she was born in Hampden, Maine during the year 1802. While growing up, however, Dix did not experience a normal childhood, instead she grew up in an unhappy home with neglectful parents. As a result, she suffered from depression at several times and by age thirty three, Dix had a complete physical and psychological breakdown. In order to restore her health, Dix embarked on a trip to Europe in 1836 where she resided in the home of William Rathbone and his family of wealthy, socially conscious liberals. During her stay in England, Dix was frequently in contact with English modern ideas of prison and mental health reform and she had the opportunity to meet several individuals who supported the cause such as,…
