Diane Dogge is the suspect that not only stole the diamonds and started the fire on purpose but set up the patio/ her spot to make it look like she did not commit the crime. Diane’s spot on the patio is different from everyone else’s, so it just goes to show that Diane set up her spot. The evidence that has been collected shows that Diane’s chair is the only chair that is tilted against the wall. Everyone else’s chairs are on the ground and the chair that was tilted is Diane’s spot because the napkins have “DD” on them. In the text it says “The fire, which had been set…” This piece of text shows that Diane set up her spot because it means that someone set the fire. Also if they all jumped up at the same time one would think that all of the guests would run in a similar motion, so then all of their spots would look the same. But, Diane’s spot was the only one that looked different. Another piece of evidence from the provided picture is that Diane’s napkin and spoon are the only one’s on the floor. This piece of evidence proves that if Diane were to have run (like the others did) then her spot would look like everyone else’s but more specifically her napkin and spoon are both laying on the ground, everyone else’s napkins are folded and on the table. If there were to be a real fire then someone would have grab some of the things that were sitting there (like the dog).
