As I enter my third year in Diamond Bar High School, I am very familiar with the environment of the campus and the people within being exceptionally prestigious and efficient. With this being said, however, Diamond Bar High School is still teeming with minor problems limiting the school's and student's true potential and quality of life. The early start time of school, the hot weather outside and inside of classrooms, and the short breaks the students receive all compile to what causes Diamond Bar High School to be limited in the improvement of potential positive effects on the students' quality of life First and foremost, in order to improve the lives of students in high school, school should begin later so students can get more rest in their daily lives. A student's life is very stressful and tiring, especially in Diamond Bar High School, as the students are taking multiple AP classes and extracurriculars while at the same time waking up around 5 or 6 to just get to school on time. It is recommended and healthy that an adolescent get 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night but according to the …show more content…
Many students in Diamond Bar during lunch have to meet with teachers, do homework, go to club meetings, and socialize with friends they couldn't talk to all day. But due to the short periods of lunch the students feel rushed and stress out more, not having a sense of being on a break but having a sense of constantly working with no rests. According to a study done by Grace Chen, when lunch period are extended to about an hour or more the quality of the food gets better and the students eat healthier, due to the mass amount of time the lunch makers heave to make lunch. Longer breaks also allows the time for students to not be rushed in all the school activities they are in involved in and allows the students to get more accomplished in that extended period of
