Dialectic Analysis Of The Movie Crash

In this paper I will explain dialectic perspective and also explain reality as a motion along with reality as a contradiction. This paper will use “Crash” the movie for examples of dialectic perspective as well as the other things mentioned. Dialectic perspective is appearance and essence may not be the same thing. That is where reality as motion comes in. Motion is just movement through any surface. Reality as motion means that anything in reality is motion. Reality is always in motion. Everything in life is reality such as we are always in motion since the day we were born. Whatever appears to be will always be becoming which isn’t how we usually think of things. We will always be becoming and will never stop becoming until the day that …show more content…
The fact that we are becoming infers that we are in motion even now. In the movie crash there was a black man who told his mother that he could not talk right now because he was having sex with a white woman. This immediately ruined the mood and the sex stopped immediately. The girl was mad and basically stormed off. This may have stopped the motion and reality of sex, but the motion never stopped it just changed direction. Reality never stops moving and changing directions. People’s lives always change and most never realize the large impact that motion has on their reality. Reality is a both “this and that” meaning that sometimes black is not always right or white is not always right, but maybe it is both. This is where reality as a contradiction comes up. Reality as a contradiction is the truth is not this nor that, but the truth is very often both at the same time. Contradiction is a unity of opposites. In the movie crash there was a black man who robbed white people for their cars. He needed the money and just got out of jail. He would never rob a man or woman of his color though. So when he needed a ride home he asked a white police officer. The white officer didn’t know …show more content…
Reality as a contradiction is very apparent in everyday life and is easy to relate to, however reality as motion is not thought of very often by many people. Motion is in everything and motion is not ever going to stop. Motion will only ever change direction whether it is for the better or for the worse. Reality as a motion and reality as a contradiction should be things that we pay attention to in everyday life as well as teach our children to pay attention to so they do not make the same mistakes. Moving towards a better life instead of the wrong

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

After reading many books from some of greatest philosophers such as Descartes, Plato, Chuang Tzu, Thich Nhat Hanh, Wachowski Brothers the director of the Matrix and so forth, my mind is wondering with one big question that has been always rotating above my head during my philosophy and film class. That one big question is to define real, how do we define real? Is it merely real that we want to know about? How about the meaning of a true real? How do we know that we are really being in this world, sitting and reading my essay?…

Reality, a state of the world for what things truly are and as they truly exist. Reality has perplexed philosophers to an extent, but perhaps none more so than the maddening words of Descartes in his meditations. To say that his words are maddening is a bit ingenuous to Descartes, but what he does propose is out of place. There have been skeptics before Descartes, but the level of skepticism he reaches is quite absurd and even more, it would be absurd if it was even true and could not be refuted in any argument. To begin with Descartes’ evil genius, there will be two vital topics of discussion, doubt, and certainty.…

The movie Crash is a multidimensional film set in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and exhibits the various cultures living in one city and how these multiple cultures interact. The tone of the film seems very somber as it views the life of individuals from different social classes and areas and how lives can intersect and impact one another. This paper will evaluate and explain the impact of cultural identity and bias, cultural patters and intercultural communication within this film. Cultural Identity and Bias One of the best examples of cultural identity and race in this film is through the character Jean, played by Sandra Bullock. Her cultural identity is that of an upper class individual living in a nice and safe neighborhood with expensive…

The matter of truth and perception are two concepts in which the definition changes depending on the individual. In the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the author Stephen R. Covey speaks of an experience at the Harvard business School where and instructor demonstrated how two people can have a different outlook, yet both be right. Two variations of the same picture were given to two sides of the classroom and asked what was seen, both sides had different answers. The students argued and neither side could come to an agreement that both arguments were correct; except for a few students who tried to see the alternate perspective.…

Black Lives Matter fits into the conflict theory as well. An interesting thing to note is one of the three founders of Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza is influenced by Malcom X, who was classified as a conflict theorist, and she too describes herself as one embracing the conflict theory. Black Lives Matter is protesting African Americans being denied the right to being treated equally especially in situations involving the police. American Americans feel profiled for their race and are being treated with unjust and sometimes deadly brutality by law enforcement. The conflict theory is being engaged in both movements, the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Lives Matter…

The Matrix: Final There is an assurance that at one point in life, the end will come for each individual and everybody will perish at one point. For now, as humans and living things, we are all doing what we do best, exist. However, imagine if the life one believes to be a part of was not actual and in fact, it was all just a virtual concept in the mind. Having had watched the film, The Matrix, this paper analyzes comparisons between appearance and reality to the writings of Bertrand Russell’s, Problems of Philosophy. Thenceforward, René Descartes’, Meditations on First Philosophy are examined and the Method of Doubt is conveyed, carefully analyzing each of its stages.…
