As an individual who lacked business writing knowledge, I struggled with writing and dreaded the thought of having to write a formal or semi formal business document. Many of the reports and proposals that I prepared were in an essay format. I can recognize now, that I was over complicating the documents that I prepared. This caused me some concern about my ability to effectively perform any job that required writing skills, and has subsequently prevented me from applying for positions that listed strong writing skills as a requirement. Academic writing has usually been fairly effortless for me, up to this point in my life. Since I came directly from high school to this university, my professional writing experience is, sadly, limited to the two weeks notice letter I wrote to my boss before I quit my part time job at the fine dining establishment known as Chik-Fil-A. Whereas other students loathed essays and book reports, I saw them as an opportunity to exhibit one of my talents. Regrettably, my enthusiasm for academic writing was not equal to my enthusiasm towards class work and homework.…
