The Owners and Their Desires
Ivan Menezes and Javier Ferran are the two highest ranking shareholders in Diageo. Ivan Menezes is an Indian-born American British and the son of Manuel Menezes, who was chairman of the Indian Railway Board. On July 1, 2013, Menezes was elected CEO of Diageo holding various other senior positions within the company ever since entering in 1997. Javier Ferran is the other “head” of the company, elected as chairman of Diageo in January 2017, after the retirement of Franz Humer. Humer is an expert in the alcohol industry; he joined Martini and Rossi in 1985 later becoming Managing Director, in 1992 he joined Bacardi serving as regional president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, finally from 2003 to 2004 he was CEO

Stakeholders

Diageo is very much focused on the impact it has on others; therefore, they are very engaged in listening to their stakeholders and learning from their responses. Diageo engages with not only local stakeholders but also stakeholders at the global level. Diageo currently has seven different groups of stakeholders; investors, employees, consumers, government/regulators, local community organizations and NGO’s, farmers, and other commercial partners. The main goal for these companies investing into Diageo is recognition; the more their product is known around the world the more money they are making. The second piece of Diageo’s stakeholders are their employees. This group runs the business. As most of Diageo’s employees are working at producing different types of liquors, they are looking for a place that is open and respectful of their ideas and willing to innovate. The employees also desire a safe working environment so that they are able to not only do the best work they can possible but make the company better as a whole. The third group of stakeholders are Diageo’s consumers; the customers desire to purchase different types of liquor the company produces. They not only want the alcohol to be available in the United States, but all over the world. Why do they want it? Because they like the product; Johnnie Walker is currently the Number 1 scotch whiskey in the world and Guinness is the Number 1 stout in the world, so as a customer when you see those rankings you always have the
