One improvement Blizzard did was the dynamics of the relationship of Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan. In the old Starcraft, the dynamics were just not there until Chris Metzen changed their stories to help the game and later the series (polygon II). Another improvement that Blizzard did was the game engine. The entire game engine of Warcraft was completely remodeled that it made the gameplay and its feature better. Even though it took a while to code and make the perfect engine, the programming team learned a lesson from it that would help in the long run (kotaku). The problems that occurred frequently were Starcraft crashing, Starcraft being buggy and the pathfinding of the game. The first problem, Starcraft crashing, was due to many important features in the game such as fog-of-war, pathing, voice-chat, and line-of-sight not working as they were supposed to and crashed the game. The next problem, Starcraft being buggy, happens in every game, but the programmers found many bugs that had to fix in the entire code of the game. It was also very difficult to find find bugs in the code especially double-linked lists. The last problem, pathfinding in Starcraft, was difficult for Blizzard because whenever they patch bugs, there would be more conflicts with the game. It made terrain and tiles to either be passable or impassable (kotaru). The problems of Starcraft would delay the release date of the game and lead the fans and customers to grow anxious and impatient for Starcraft (Polygon II).
