The first type of blood test that can be used in the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes is known as a Glycated Hemoglobin Blood Test. This test monitors the amount of blood sugar attached to Hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen, over a few months. Results from this test should be below 5.7 percent to be considered normal. This test is especially useful in diagnosing Type 2 Diabetes, however this test cannot one hundred percent accurate if the patient is pregnant (Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, 2014).
The second type of blood test that can be used to test for Type 2 Diabetes is known as a Random Blood Sugar Test. This test is pretty self-explanatory; it is a blood test that is taken at a nonspecific or random time to test for Type 2 Diabetes.
