I chose to write my informative article on Diabetes. I chose this disease to study and write about because it is one of the fastest growing diseases in all ages of people. I believe because of how severe and common this disease is, I should learn more about it and take any opportunity I can to talk about it with someone else. Diabetes prevents the body from using or housing sugars that you intake through food by preventing insulin from being produced. Insulin is a hormone in the pancreas that helps the body use sugar for energy to run it. If the body cannot properly produce insulin, then sugar can build up in arteries which have lasting and damaging effects on the body such as, blindness, problems with the kidney and the circulatory system and nerves. There are two types of Diabetes, 1 and 2.

It is fast acting in the body and has no known cause. Diabetes type 1 causes the body to completely stop producing insulin. In order to treat it, someone must take insulin injections or he/she will receive a pump which can send the right amount of insulin into their body. Diabetes type 2 is not as fast acting. While it can also stop the body from making insulin, it is a lot more common because generally it just prevents the body from using the insulin that it does create. Diabetes type 2 is also more commonly associated with older obese adults, but more recently is found in children. It can be treated with a insulin injection as well, but because it is associated with obesity, a healthier diet can also treat it.
Healthful behaviors that can help prevent developing either types of Diabetes are to be mindful of your blood pressure level. In order to do this, having a low fat/calorie diet can help mitigate sugar building up in arteries. Staying active can burn off the unnecessary calories and sugars from the diet, and overall increase the body’s
