In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Donna Okaro, Jovanna Dollins, and Michael Gregorash helped Collin College’s Student Life organize an event called Dia de Los Muertos. On October 18, 2016, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Central Park Atrium the event shared the history of Dia de Los Muertos and provided the opportunity of decorating a sugar skull of our own. Dia de Los Muertos is Spanish for Day of the Dead. Although the tradition originated from Mexico, other cultures acknowledge the festivity internationally. The annual holiday takes place the first two days of November, due to their belief that the gates of Heaven open at midnight on November 1st and close when the clock strikes midnight on November 3rd, allowing souls to reunite with their
