Deviance Monologue

Cadence awoke.

An immense pressure bore on her confused mind, feeling like a lost soul in the depths of hell. Her vision swam into focus as her eye adjusted to the dim light, coming from some crack in the wall, but only for a minute, before it dwindled like a dying star, brining darkness once more. The world around her was like a distorted night sky, gyrating across rippling ocean waves, lit by the moon.

Everything was so nebulous, still. All around her were thousands of strange bloods of indistinct colours, mixing and weaving and colliding in every direction, all so vibrant yet seeming to be plunged in the inscrutable darkness. She felt weak and tired, but it also felt like she had rested for a very long time. It felt as though she was drifting off to sleep while in a dream. She was unable to decipher whether or not the colours were bright or dark. It was a contrasting …show more content…
She plummeted to the ground, and a crushing pain seared through her body. The pain was insufferable and unlike anything she had ever felt in her entire life.

As she stood, her muscles singing their protests, the agony had only grown in intensity. She collapsed to the floor and felt the pain as strong as a hundred daggers sinking into her flesh. Groaning and screaming with anguish, she writhed about on the floor, clutching her body. Her eyes, just after being cleared, were starting to water from the sheer pain, while her breathing was, once again, becoming sharp, shallow rasps. Her mind was trying to pinpoint the reasoning for being in so much pain, but nothing came.

Through the small window on the cell door, a quick flurry of motion caught her eye, but she was too slow to get a glimpse of whatever had gone by. Somewhere in the distance, outside her four walls, a disturbing laugh
