The Developmental Psychology course has taught me about wisdom. It has forced me to consider what I think wisdom is, to identify people I know who are wise according to my definition, to determine who can become wise as well as to understand how people become wise. The course definition of wisdom states that “wisdom is a hypothesized cognitive characteristic of older adults that includes accumulated knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge to practical problems of living.” Similarly, I believe that wisdom is having a great deal of knowledge about a variety of different topics, such as historical events, different cultures, human behaviour and law as well as being able to apply that knowledge to determine what is right in a given situation.
