In today’s world, Autonomous Vehicles are becoming more widely available, and they are not science fiction anymore. Autonomous Vehicles have many positive impacts on society, as well as negative ones. This new technology introduces opposition from different parts of society, yet it has a lot of supporters that are pushing it forward to continue the development and deployment of Autonomous Vehicles. This paper is focused on discussing the positive, and negative impacts Autonomous Vehicles will have on travel. As well as the strongest arguments for and against Autonomous Vehicles and how these arguments are viewed from an ethical point of view, which is why this technology should remain in development.

There is no doubt that Autonomous Vehicles will have a great positive impact on the majority of society, but parts of society will be harmed by the introduction of this new technology. Some of the benefits this new technology will provide are increased safety on the road, more efficient modes of transportation, and the freedom of travel for the elderly or disabled without restrictions. That being said, it’s not all good. For instance, elimination of many jobs in the transportation sector is one of the drawbacks Autonomous Vehicles will have on society, as well as personal security of the vehicles being prone to hacking and cyber-attacks.
